So do we match it? If we use the logic we've used with past OL's, ie Okung, Sweezy, Carpenter, et al, we'll let him leave as he isn't worth it. But we're damn thin already.

Let him go is what I say. He has had plenty of chances, and really has been disappointing. Remember, he was a former TE that was UFA.

The best thing he has going for is that he's cute. I say we resign him.

The best thing about Gilliam is he caught a TD pass from Jon Ryan to spark an amazing, surreal comeback in the NFC title game. It gets him some latitude with me.
For all the hand wringing the line produced the largest playoff rushing total by Rawls in franchise history and was a part of the run game gashing Atlanta pretty well until Bevfool decided not to try running anymore after losing his starting guard. Keep him...

According to PFT, the Seahawks have declined to match the offer.
I guess that means our FO thinks the off season additions are better than Gilliam.

I'm glad he's gone, really.
We've seen enough of Gilliam to know that he's backup material, at best, and that he's not worth the investment of more time (or money).
The bar has not been raised for this group for a few years now. It'd be nice if they ditched their conversion philosophy altogether, imo, as the odds of a legit conversion from one position to an OL are slim to none.

I think it also indicated a probable draft focus area.

Pete mentioned that in his year end press conference.
I'm not so sure our current additions/subtraction will have a net improvement. Maybe Joeckel, if he improves he can be considered an improvement but he wasn't good in Jacksonville at LT and didn't play enough at Guard before getting injured to really know how good he might be there.
There might be a couple of Guards or Tackles in the 2nd or 3rd like Asiata or Sirigusa at G and Moton or Bisnowaty at RT that our FO might like.
It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

So if that's true, does Ifedi move out to RT? If that's the case, then we'll have at least two more position changes on the OL. So much for continuity.

Yah, it looks like a 60% turnover again this year if you consider players playing in a different position.

I hope Ifedi can stay where he played last year. I have zero idea of what they will do with RT but Gilliam played it so poorly. Hard to imagine anyone being worse. To his credit, he did play better the last 2 games.

But the good news is that he'll be playing for the 49'ers. Michael Bennett must be delirious at the news.

This was from about 3 weeks ago, but Pete said then that Ifedi was making the move over to RT.
