About the only justification in that article for signing Kaepernick is that Seattle is a "progressive" team. Other than that, the move makes no sense whatsoever for either side. For Kaepernick, he is not going to be competing for the starting job and for the Hawks, with Boykin playing well in limited action, they have no real need to bring in an expensive, baggage laden backup that's not familiar with their system.

It's fine to be amused, but no chance this happens

The 'word' is he's cleaning up his act and now will stand for the National Anthem... (no comment) So, he think's he's going to be the starting QB in Chicago come this fall. Why would he want to come here to be a backup who never sees the field?

He's "cleaning up his act" only because it's likely to cost him millions in his next contract.

There's at least a dozen teams, Chicago amongst them, that have starting jobs he can compete for, and that's just 1/2 of the equation of why Seattle doesn't make sense. There are other teams like us with starters already determined that unlike us do have backup openings, like the Cowboys once Romo leaves. There hasn't been a hint out of our FO that they are displeased with Boykin. That article is pure speculation with no foundation.

I think what the author was trying to say was he could get his game together without the pressure to start and learn how to be a better QB from Wilson before competing for starting jobs.
In a perfect world for him it would make sense, but he might be forgotten if he didn't get much playing time.

Kaepernick will be starting his 7th season this year and will hit the big 3-0 in November. I seriously doubt that he's of the mindset that he's going to start his career over as a backup and learn the position. He's in danger of becoming this decade's Mark Sanchez. He might not get another starting opportunity if he spends a year or two serving as Russell Wilson's backup.

Big Trade this week. Cousins to Niners, Romo to WA..Niners will also pick up WR Ross in draft so Seahwks will have one hard time stopping the Niner long ball.
