If it wasn't for idiots like Chris Mortensen trying to set the punishment bar high the day of Pete's presser based on nothing but speculation and "prior conduct" nobody would've been expecting much anyway.

My rational side agrees with bob: this was a minor violation and the league never would have handed out a major punishment.

My jaded side thinks that because Art Rooney's club did the same thing with league-darling Le'Veon Bell, the league was forced to give all teams a slap on the wrist.

I think this type of thing is rampant across the NFL. Just look at how many surgeries are done after the season and penalties would open the door to a flood of accusations across the league. Better to sweep it under the rug than get more bad press.

We were issued a warning, so it's not like they said there was no violation at all, but it's such a minor issue. Losing a draft pick would be out of proportion to the violation. I do wish that Pete would pay more attention to details. We seem to get caught with a lot of this ticky tacky chit, more so than other teams. Next time we might not be so lucky.
