There's always something to second guess, I suppose but he had to make the decisions on the fly.
Russell could always go back in, it's not like he was in street clothes.
He had Boykin in there when it was 25-23 with 5 minutes to go. If the 49'ers had scored say off a Boykin turnover, he would have to had put Russell and Co. back in after we had lost a 9 point lead, like closing the barn door after the horses got out.
No matter how you slice it, this was a really poor decision. He played Russell the entire game in a 21 point victory vs. the Rams two weeks ago, what was it he felt in this game that compelled him to pull Russell that he didn't feel in the last 5 minutes of the Rams game?
Pete was playing Russian roulette, and fortunately he missed the chamber with the bullet in it.
