Do you think that the Chargers will have second thoughts due to the Ram's disappointing results?

Bad honeymoon, but firing Fisher gives them a shot at moving forward with a coach/staff that may get them going again. SD voters recently rejected some kind of stadium funding, so I don't know what other options the Chargers have at this point, other than to head north to LA.

Rams will do just fine in LA. It will take some adjusting to the scene. A new coach and upcoming star QB with D and O lines will do wonders next season. I expect them to hire Harbaugh or the Chin or even possibly Nick Saban after he puts away another title in January. Face it Seahawks days are numbered. Infighting and finger pointing are the first sign of a end of a run for the past three seasons that was mostly by luck.

That's the same thought I had, although I'm sure it covers more fans than those in St. Louie.

The Rams short honeymoon in LA is another example of how the NFL's popularity has peaked or at least is not increasing as it once was.

BTW, anyone besides Zorny want to take a stab at the question I posed in the OP? Will this dud of a first season cause the Chargers to hesitate to exercise their option?

The Rams fans in LA wouldnt even support the team when it was winning and had stars like Eric Dickerson.They wouldnt support the Raiders when they were a perennial AFC powerhouse.
Why would they support a boring losing team they really have no emotional connection with?
?There is so much glitter and glitz to distract the eye in LA it will require a dazzling presentation over a long period of time to make the Rams a success there.
I think the Chargers leaving San diego would be a tragedy and relocate another team away from its natural fan base much as the 9ers did when they built Levis.

It still sounds like a number of high profile coaches including Jon Gruden have interest in the job. The stadium being constructed is world class, probably the fanciest NFL stadium on the planet.
It will be attractive to high profile free agents.
It will be interesting to watch.

IMO there's a lot going on in the LA area. For one, the demographics have changed. More Hispanics that do not have a connection to American football as they do soccer and baseball. Two major colleges in the area, two MLB teams, two NBA teams, and a hockey team. Plus the weather during football season is fantastic down there. Only diehards like us would be willing to stay indoors and watch a dead from the neck up team like the Rams. Southern CA is not a football hotbed like other areas of the country.

In addition, the nation wide popularity of the NFL itself is beginning to wane. The greedy owners are getting too big for their britches.

I agree, River. The same can be said of San Diego. It was my worst NFL experience three times. The fans seem bored, the parking is the worst, and it is not in walking distance to anything but freeway ramps. I told this story in here once. My friend is a Bills fan and we went down for Bills Vs. Chargers a few years ago. We ate brunch at an outdoor venue in December and the wait staff only understood why we'd go to a game once he knew we were Bills fans (he thought we were from Buffalo). When we said something like the Bills are going to win today, he said maybe. It is a win-win for me. Even if we lose, it is still 70 degrees - so I WIN.

That seriously was the vibe I got from the stadium as well.. and I have been several times. #YAWN

It must be something to do with the warm, dry fall weather as the attitude in Phoenix is similar to that of So Cal. There's not a large, hard core fan base like there is in Denver, Green Bay, Chicago, et al. Everybody is from somewhere else.

Holy sht- watching the CAR/WAS game, watching Cam run around when the game's finally no longer in doubt and waving to his fans and taunting the crowd... man oh man am I glad we have the guy we have under center.
