Excessive contact in OTA's this year.
Team fined $400,000 Pete fined $200,000
We lose a week of OTA's next year, too.

The NFL is out to "get us" plain and simple. Look at all of those phony penalties yesterday. Every time our offense moved the ball the flags came out.
So we have to ask, WHY? Why is the NFL kicking us in the teeth??? In what way did we pizz off Roger Goodell? Could it be the whole team locking arms in what they call a show of unity but the press, even the local press calls it a protest. Go ahead, keep protesting the flag and National Anthem and you will keep getting blow back.

The NFLPA needs to rethink their position on this stuff. Not only is it contributing to injuries and making it harder for rookies to get up to speed with the rest of the team but they spent so much bargaining capitol on making things easier on themselves in the offseason they had none left for the really important stuff like guaranteed contracts.

Yeah, I've heard a number of former players saying they got used to contact they would get in the season by having a lot of contact in the off season practices.
The limited practices permitted in the CBA really shows in the poor Offensive Line play across the league. Those teams that keep their OL together have a distinct advantage with timing and such but they still aren't really ready for the full contact and speed of regular season play which I think risks QBs, RBs, as well as along the OL.

I agree that the NFLPA should re-think this, but I don't think it's unwarranted or the league is out to get the Hawks. It's a harsh penalty because:
"Monday's discipline is the third time Carroll and the Seahawks have been penalized for breaking the "no-contact" rules. In 2014, the Seahawks were fined $300,000 and lost practice time the following year for violating the rule during a mandatory minicamp. In 2012, Carroll and the Seahawks were fined an undisclosed amount and forfeited two OTAs the following season for violating the rule."

From what I've read, the "excessive contact" was two players running into each other going for a ball.
Are they going to fine PC $1M if someone trips next spring?

I'm not entirely sure what the 2nd infraction was, but I do remember one of them being because a few players got in scraps during OTA's one year ( which is absolutely stupid).

I can't imagine sanctioning the team for two players getting in a scrap. That's on the two players.

And yet, they did.
My mistake, the second infraction was the fight, no idea what the first was ( and according to the articles on it, neither did Carroll or the Seahawks coaching staff).

If they're going to sanction the team for two players bumping into each other (as has been reported was the case here), I can easily see them doing the same for a fight.
Ridiculous.

It can be both, pretty weak imo. Never the less I get a kick out of all patrioid fans going crazy that brady and co got 4 games suspension and loss of first round pick for deflate gate and Seahawks ONLY got 400k and Carrol 200K fine with loss of 5th rounder....for cheating during OTA bahahaha. It's not fair they say, they are right brady and bellecheck should be banned for life, the patrioids fans make whiner nation look like nice people

If there is not more too this than what I am seeing, then EFF Roger and thieves.
It is hurting the players. Data shows there are more injuries and not fewer injuries. OK, so we learned about the dangers of over working in extreme heat. And concussions etc.. and are taking steps to be wiser about the way teams practice. Gone are the days of denying a team water breaks. But there was contact at football practice?? Really?

It wasn't even *designed* contact (it wasn't built into the drill or something)- two players just accidentally banged into each other going for a ball. Fricking infuriating.

The league and the NFLPA independently reviewed the practice in question, and both agreed that it was a violation. Regardless of the wisdom of the rule, it's still a rule, and we broke it and must suffer the consequences.

I got $100 that says in the next two years, a player will trip over his own feet in OTAs and land the team with a $1M fine.
