Cuts coming - Any surprises?

We have a lot of talent on this team.
I get the feeling that RG Evans might not make the team.
I hope he does make the team because I think that veteran influence can help an otherwise young OL.
He's also probably the best interior pass blocker, from what I've seen.

I see other teams are occasionally trading players.
Any trades of players that might not make the team?
If we do have a lot of coveted talent we might get some lower round picks out of them - if a team doesn't want to risk their chance of getting a player after the cuts.

I agree I told people that he was overrated, and I was not trying to be a downer. There was a reason we got him.

Evans appears to be on the bubble.

Offensive line is still very much in flux. RT is suddenly in play. Don't be surprised if we pick up another tackle after the other teams make their cuts.

With Graham and Vannett both out, we're in the market for another tight end, too.

I'm pretty sure BB gets the axe

ObS mentioned Linebacker.
I wonder if Kevin Pierre-Louis is still in the plans?
I haven't noticed him much at all in the preseason.

We are deep at WR, DB, and RB. The weakness at FB means we probably keep an extra RB or TE. McEvoy will never make it to the practice squad and I think they really like him, if they only keep five WRs that leaves Williams, Smith, and Lawler all on the cut list. Brandin Bryant probably gets cut and it's doubtful he doesn't get signed. Terrell's special teams ability could push either Burley or Browner.

Not so sure about that, Sis. Browner can play special teams and he'd solve some potential matchup problems if we use him like the Pats did in the Super Bowl when we were killing them with Chris Mathews. As an example, I can see us matching him up against a receiver like Eric Decker when we play the J.E.T.S. Jets Jets Jets. He can also play strong safety if necessary. Pete likes players that have a lot of versatility, and Browner has those abilities.

Wow it's almost the season again! I rarely post but have followed this board since its inception and used to be a casual poster on the PI board.

I agree with and hope RD is correct. The LOB could use some of BB's tenacity, versatility, and leadership. His absence in the preseason games is a cause of concern though.
Go Hawks

Yeah, I think I'd like to see BB make the roster, but I don't know if that's just nostalgia talking.

It's not a good sign when he hasn't had many preseason reps at a new position (where you'd expect them to be evaluating his effectiveness, etc).

BB is gone. So is KPL, IMHO. There are always surprise cuts. Mine seemed not surprising to me...but thy rest of you disagree. So they can count, then, as my surprises. I'd say we try to sneak some - like Collins and McEvoy to the PS and they'll get snatched up. We will see. Saturday is the final cutdown. May the best Hawks win!

I thought the talk about BB was he would be used to counter opposing TE's.
We got gashed by Cincy's TE - was it Eifert? and we see Gronkowski early so maybe he will stick.
It depends on what they see his role being as they pretty much know what he can and can't do, but the wild card for us is whether he has lost a step so as to become ineffective as a backup CB or cover athletic TEs.
In any event, like said above, there will be a lot of good talent leaving this team in the short time before the season starts.

Also from Kapadia:

"In addition to cutting Brandon Browner, the Seahawks have waived FB Kyle Coleman, WR Montario Hunter and DE DeAngelo Tyson. WR Deshon Foxx has been waived/injured. And nose tackle Sealver Siliga has been placed on injured reserve."

And there's talk that they are offering Patrick Lewis as trade bait.
It's going to be an interesting next couple of weeks or less.

Would this mean Sokoli (sp) would be our backup Center?

the thought of not having Lewis is not a good one for me... and I have no idea who would back up Britt. I guess I assumed it would be the short rookie from TCU. blanking on the name - Joey??

Edit - Joey Hunt

Wow. Brandon Browner cut. I did not see that coming, although after Chris Clemmons 'retirement', maybe we shouldn't be surprised.

It dawned on me a little while ago after posting the question of who would be the backup - Joey Hunt will back up Britt at Center.
They would save about $1.5 million in Cap space, if I'm not mistaken, but Hunt might be OK in a pinch as he's got a lot of experience in College.

They officially waived Patrick Lewis. Those guys see both Hunt and Lewis every day, so I have to believe they know who's best for the back up role, but I well remember the fact that Lewis stabilized that position last season. Hope he catches on and does well elsewhere.

No link; just a post on the Seahawks ESPN web page.

That is exactly it. Hunt, though I could only remember Joey when you first asked the question (I could see his man-bun and face too  ;) ). Cable & company feel good enough with the youngster to save cap space. Makes me wonder if they are planning anything or saving for a rainy day.

I thought I read somewhere that Hunt graded out as one of the better Centers in the draft even though he is a little undersized.
He played against some of the best Nose and DT's and did very well in pass protection.
That doesn't mean there wouldn't be a drop off in play should Britt get hurt, but rather he might be a competent backup at this point.
Like MackStrong said, he must be playing at a close enough level to Lewis for them to cut Lewis.

KPL and Lawler are next, I think. Brooks was a no-brainer.
