Pretty nice offseason for the Hawks. If they can figure out how to make Bennett happy, I'd say they batted a 1000 this summer.

Once Schneider signed, this became pretty apparent.

Now let's get down to business and win us another Lombardi!

Were people concerned about this seriously? Or was it just dead time chatter?

Mostly something to discuss, but nobody really knows what's going on behind the curtain.

My radar went up last year when Pete sold his house and as far as I know, hasn't purchased a new one. The impending moves of the Rams, Chargers, and Raiders to the LA area (this is Fisher's last year of his contract) made Hollywood look like a viable possibility to a person that has spent so much time in the Golden State. He's 64 years old so he has to be at least thinking about retirement, he's strung tighter than a drum, and that devastating Super Bowl loss had to have taken a severe toll on him as it would have on any sane individual.

So yes, there was plenty of good, well justified reasons why fans should have been concerned about Pete's long term plans. It wasn't just idle gossip.

Guess I'm just not prone to worrying about something I can't control, have no actually involvement in or information on. Never was concerned about Carroll going anywhere, though I have contemplated him retiring. He isn't the oldest coach in NFL history or anything, I was more concerned with losing Schneider than Carroll ( to GB with the impending GM retirement) but even that hardly raised much concern.

Not knocking people for being different, just is kind of a surprise is all. It almost feels like creating a problem, that could become self fulfilling.

Rich people buy and sell real estate all the time, I don't read anything into it. Now if my Uncle Ron sells his house I figure something is up, but rich folk? Naw.

Even rich people don't normally sell their homes before they've owned them for 24 months (and be subject to a capital gains tax), but Pete did.

Thank God, even though I would have liked the contract with a decade or more in length, he's still ours and that's all that matters!

Good news, indeed.

Lombardi or bust as long as the Pete and John show is running.

They do when they bought the house next door...when they find a person they deem to be a suitable neighbor. I think Pete bought the smaller house next to the one he sold.

Who he sold it to wasn't what had me concerned. He sold it less than 24 months after he bought it so he is subject to paying tax on the gains and he did not buy another home in the area, at least not right away. Couple that with a devastating SB loss, a rather disappointing 2015 season, going into the last year of his contract, and all the activity going on down in his home state, it shouldn't be surprising that some of us were trying to put 2 and 2 together.

If you want me to say I was wrong, I won't as I never predicted that he was leaving. But I'll admit that, thankfully, my suspicions were unfounded.

Where did I say anything remotely close to that? I reaffirmed what was said before me ( ie he sold to a friend off market ~ which to my understanding means not actively attempting to sell unless to a person you know).

You didn't, and I didn't say you did.

But I wouldn't assume that because Pete sold his house off market that he wasn't actively trying to sell it. I was actively trying to sell my mom's house to my daughter for a number of months, but she didn't want it, so eventually, I put it on the market.

All I am saying is that I made a reasonable assumption based on several facts (selling his house, contract expiring, devastating SB loss, activity in LA) that Pete might be on the move. That assumption turned out to be wrong.

So, it turns out the Coach had his contract ready for a while, while the team negotiated with JS. Pete didn't want to resign without JS. JS got 2 more years as he's 'younger'... according the Pete. Pete not retiring, not moving to LA, not doing anything buy Coach the Seahawks. Not sure about his house, maybe his wife wanted to downsize or move closer to work or their family. Maybe he was close to the $500,000.00 federal tax exemption on Capital Gains. Lots of reasons people sell houses, that have nothing to do with moving to LA... (whew....)
