I know BB has his flaws, but that spot was a weak link last year with Williams. I think Shead played there after that and did OK. Jeremy Lane was the one probably penciled into the starting role, so now there is competition.

BB brings it, so physical. He will get flagged every game at some point, so you have to take the good with the bad. Kinda like when Bennett always jumps offsides, you accept his bad plays for all the good he brings. Not saying BB is on the same level as Bennett either.

One year deal, no harm if it doesn't work out. He may not even survive the final cut, but to get the original LOB back together, you gotta know those 4 guys are feeling good today about it.

Wow, I guess the penalty count was not high enough yet!

I wish him luck however

when you're the reason the NFL changes the bump 'n hold rules against the DBs, you wonder why we would bring him back. Penalty machine. I don't understand, but I guess we have such a limited cap space, he must of been on the 'minimum'.

I think he's a camp body who can mentor younger guys. In the unlikely event he makes the team, I think he'll be, at best, be a jack-of-all-tools sub playing backup CB, SS, and on special teams.

Honestly it would be cool to see him make a move to SS. He is big and physical. He could also provide depth or be insurance against injury as well.

One year deal, and maybe he gets a 2nd wind by returning. Apparently, played with torn MCL all of last season in New Orleans.

Ouch.

I guess he's healthy now, lol.

We'll see. It's a prove it type contract, so plenty of motivation for him to do whatever is asked. He also better not rub that SB in our face:)

Yup, I think exactly the same thing.
He's not going to start, but as a special teams stud, and backup corner (and hopefully at SS as well), this is a signing that makes me quite happy.
The reason this makes me happy isn't even what he brings on the field so much as the vibe he brings back to the LOB! The original LOB with all its intensity and toughness is BACK!
Between him and Clemons...wooo! Man this team is getting its edge, its swagger and it's intimidation factor back!
Personally I couldn't be happier.
I am edging closer and closer to predicting another Super Bowl win. I've only done it twice, 05, (I was wrong even though we made it) and 2013. I'm getting that feeling that the Seahawks are about to beat down the entire league again.

Huh...wonder how much my original LOB t-shirt is worth now? HAha JK. Not stocked on what he did last year but maybe coming back to the emerald city will help him jump start his career. Obviously we are all routing for him now.

You can ignore last season completely for at least two reasons.
1. He was playing hurt the whole year.
2. The Saints suck horribly, and had no clue whatsoever how to properly utilize Browner.

Pete will use him the way he used to be used (and like I said, hopefully at strong safety as well, where I think he would instantly be one of the leagues best actually). Most importantly, he won't be asked to start unless he EARNS it in camp. Which he very well might if he's healthy again. At worst, he'll bring intensity to special teams.
Image

At best he can play meaningful minutes, possibly (outside shot) even start, and will bring that intensity that he always plays with, that fighting swagger intimidation factor that he always brings, both to the locker room and to the field.

Monkey, you made my day.

I wanted to post that play as you did with it running non stop. I have no idea how to do it though. When I think of Brandon Browner, I think of that play against the Cards. I watch it on youtube all the time. So good.

Not a surprise. I also wouldn't be surprised to see Unger wearing blue and green again some day.

At the very least, Browner should be useful on special teams (as that video shows) and certain situations requiring a big body to shut down a big receiver, particularly in the red zone, as the Pats did when they needed someone to shut down Chris Mathews.

Nice pickup.

I wonder if he will be also be used in a bit of a coaching role with the younger players as well as playing duties.
He knows the footwork and positioning as well as the required attention to detail to do well in Pete's defense.
Sherman already mentors younger CB's and another set of eyes to correct the subtleties of playing CB can't hurt.

Edit:
Does this mean they might not select a CB in the draft?

Not sure about Kam's pass rushing skills, but it's an interesting thought, at least for some situations.

Wow 0 guaranteed, 1 year 760k. They'll either get the "good" Browner, or he will be on down the road. Win win situation for both the Hawks and Browner. Definitely a low risk/high reward situation for both parties.

Honestly hoping he doesn't make the team. I don't want the headaches of his penalties. He has been atrocious the last two years in that aspect.

I didn't see the contract details. Are there playing incentives and roster bonuses etc. that might take him to perhaps as much as double the 760k?

I looked in multiple places and saw none. Realistically, worst case scenario is Browner gets IR designation and Seattle owes him 468 thousand....

Ultimately Browner is making plenty of money ( via guaranteed money from the Saints) for the upcoming season, so I doubt money was much of a consideration on his part..

So he is actually making about $4.5 million. That makes it easier to understand - and he wants to be here which is good.

Browner led the league in penalties playing for the Pats. even though his missed the first 4 games because he was suspended. He led the league in flags again last season playing for the Saints. We finally STOPPED leading the league in penalties after he left. Why of why do we want him back now??? He is so grabby, I too wish he would switch to safe.ty

IMHO Browner isn't going too be starting nor playing in the slot. Honestly, if he makes the team, he'll be a sub package corner( a specialist if you will) specifically used to combat larger, physical receivers ( like an Aquan Boldin etc) who are "grabby" themselves. Lane will be the second starter, moving inside to the nickel when a team like that is faced. I could also see him playing a LB spot in obvious passing downs and drawing a TE split, as well as backing up Chancellor in a pinch.

I am thinking the exact same HC. Chuck in some special teams for him, and I don't think we can expect anything more. Plus having the original "LOB" back will have a psychological effect on the other 3, it just has to put a little extra "jump" in their step if BB is back on the team. I truly believe those 4 are the definition of "brothers" who feed off each other like no others.

Don't mind me, I'm just going to stand here patting my own back: http://www.fieldgulls.com/2016/5/9/1164 ... own-rookie

But given the thin depth at SS and CB, I think it's a good plan to see if he can beat out the young'uns.

If I read this correctly it looks like they may actually be looking at playing him at safety in our base or rather our base would be more of a nickle with kam and ET both playing at the sane time. Playing with 2 big guys at safety allows them to cover better than having a LB and both browner and kam play the run well. Instead of having to find somebody to replace Irvin they put BB in there.

Yeah there were several of us here who had been hoping that Browner would play some safety, and here we go!
Of course, it's not really all that insightful to look at a guy Browner's size who plays the physical style he does, and immediately envision him as a safety. ;)
Still, while it was obvious, it's still nice to be validated, and there are several posters here who have called for Browner to play safety.
Just remember Super Bowl 49, and how Chris Matthews was just KILLING the Patriots defense. They seemed to have no answer for him, until they stuck Browner on him. From that point on, Matthews did almost nothing.
I think he's going to eliminate a lot of the TE coverage problems we had last year. That's why we picked him back up IMO, (and Pete essentially confirmed).
Browner has the size and skills necessary to effectively erase an opposing teams big body receiver, whether that is TE or WR. So happy to see Pete use it.

Nice forecast. Yes you do know something about football - and quite a bit more about the NFL from what I have read here.

Most people who post here do have good insight - which makes this site better than most - it may not have the volume that other sites do but the quality per post is as good as any Seahawk fan site that I am aware of.
