My All time Favorite Seahawk. This really leaves a hole. What a great Player. No Seahawk player has ever moved me emotionally Like Marshawn Lynch did when he ran the ball.

With Marshawn, you never know, but it sure looks like it.
He embodied the never quit mantra that Pete teaches and I think we will miss those big runs that gave both sides of the ball an emotional lift. He really was a big ingredient in the mix that's called chemistry within a team.

It's a fitting way for him to announce his retirement. Although he was far from my favorite Hawk, I am forever grateful for his contributions to our team. He was one of the most fun running backs to watch since I started watching football games some 55 years ago.

Classic timing for him to step away from the game (or at least the Seahawks).

I'll always love Beast. Guy left it all out on the field for this franchise, was key in our success in winning a SB (even though he himself was shutdown in 48, the only thing Denver managed to do well at the time).

He does a lot of good charitable things off the field that get little to no press (typical), but at least he does more than his share in that regard.

Live long and prosper, Marshawn Lynch.

His end here wasn't the way he wanted but he's one of the all time runners in history. He's a few productive seasons from Canton unfortunately.
But I hear he has saved all his money so he's going to have a good life.
Good luck Beast Mode!!!

The times had a graph that showed there was only about 300 yards difference in the careers of Lynch and Earl Campbell.
They had the same average/carry, and the same number of TDs when they retired.
Campbell is in the HoF. I wonder if Marshawn will get there, too or if the media will shut him out because of his silence.

They had a very similar style too although the Tyler Rose had a little bit more breakaway speed in his prime. Lynch would be a HOF guy in my book but I think he will be one of the guys who falls just short.

It's going to be tough for Lynch due to several factors. First of all, Campbell played in an era where there was a lot more emphasis on the running back. He won't be, and shouldn't be, measured against Campbell, but rather his contemporaries, such as Jerome Bettis. I haven't looked up comparative stat lines.

Secondly, there's a lot of people that do not like Lynch for his antics, and right or wrong, it will influence how they vote.

Both in the same mold River, they have almost the same YPC, the same stats right down the line. Marshawn was a big back in big games. EC, due to the team he was on didn't have the chance at a post season. I think the least talked about story of SB 48, is how the Denver D sold out to stopping Beast and was picked apart by Wilson in the 2nd half. Granted the game was over.
Their are experts that wonder IF he makes it to the HOF, like Chuck Powell on KJR. I think the case is a slam dunk. IF last year they would have given the ball to LYNCH, like they should have, then his HOF induction would be a slam dunk. His numbers are not nearly as good as Bettis, but they are better than Terrell Davis. I think he should get in.

Over half his career yards were gained after contact. Maybe HOF isn't such a stretch after all.

I don't think Beast quite has the numbers to do a crotch grab while wearing a gold jacket. The 3 most recent RB's to have been inducted are Jerome Bettis, Marshall Faulk, and Curtis Martin. Here's a comparison between the 4:

Bettis: Years played: 13. Pro Bowl selections: 6. Rushing yards:13,662. YPC: 3.9. Receptions: 200. Rec. Yards: 1,449 TD's: 94.

Faulk: Years played: 12. Pro Bowl selections: 7. Rushing yards: 12,880. YPC: 4.3. Receptions: 767. Rec. Yards: 6,875. TD's: 136.

Martin: Years played: 11. Pro Bowl selections: 5. Rushing yards: 14,101. YPC: 4.0. Receptions: 484. Rec. Yards: 3,329. TD's: 100.

Lynch: Years played: 9. Pro Bowl selections: 5. Rushing yards: 9,112. YPC: 4.2. Receptions: 252. Rec. Yards: 1,979. TD's: 74.

I don't think his very impressive YAC numbers are going to be much help, especially given the fact that Lynch was a player with a very controversial personality. HOF isn't just a stretch, it's a long shot.

But who knows. I've been wrong before. He'd certainly get my vote.

Mine too, he got the tough yards by carrying people. He was a sight and a half.
