It's been pretty quiet. I saw a month or so ago where they had started talks, but I haven't heard anything since.

Only difference between Bobby's situation and Russel's is that Russ is a QB. We have the same amount of real information in both cases.

We can guess that they see Wilson as the first choice for signing an extension.
There are a number of options that might be in play - to guess, I would say they don't want to sign Wagner and lose that Cap space in the event Wilson agrees to a deal.
Other options might be they are trading offers back and forth with Wilson or are preparing a larger offer for him.
Maybe they are waiting for a response from Wilson or are down to a few outstanding issues.
In any event, Wilson's status is my guess to be the holdup for other players. I would expect that if things remain as they are, Wagner might be signed after TC starts.

Bobby W was on NFL Network about a month ago and stated that he was hoping to start contract talks. The team needs to get Wilson done by start of trainingcamp. If it doesn't happen, I would hope that the team would sign BWags if Russell doesn't want the $$$ this year.

They were talking about the RW contract on Comcast here in Portland, they seem to think the contract floor will be Fig Newton's the ceiling will be the highest paid in the NFL and they will meet in the middle. We can only hope.

How dare you steal the Wagner thread and use it to start talking about Russell!

Sorry, obi, I was being sarcastic. Anthony is always scolding someone when they commit the sin of talking about someone other than the OP when the OP is about Russell.

Here's an article that discusses the Wagner situation:
http://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seah ... extension/I'm wondering if Wagner is waiting on Luke Kuechly. If the rumors that the Panthers might extend K's contract this year and pay him over $12M a season (they just picked up his option for $11.1M) are true, then it could benefit Wagner to wait a few months, let K sign, and thus raise the bar in Wagner's contract talks.

That was a decent article, thanks. It's almost gotten unusual to read one that's informative and isn't harping on the worst case scenario as inevitable.

Wagner has missed some games because of injury unlike Wilson, so he might be tempted by the guaranteed money easier.
As well, he probably won't mind getting a deal done during the year either.
Time will tell.

Hmm interesting is true, it will be interesting to see how the fans react to Wagner wanting to be the highest paid at his position compared to Kam, Et, and Sherman.

Where in the article did it suggest that Wagner wanted to be the highest paid at his position? It specifically said that Wagner would "undoubtedly" sign a contract less that what Kuechley ultimately ends up signing, and all I said was that it might benefit Wagner to wait and see what K signs for.

We will see want we , However no reason to even mention waiting if it not a possibility and you know it, but as it did with Sherman, Et ,and Kam it will nt matter they all wanted highest and got it with no fan concerns.

Just reported on @NFLTotalAccess: the #Seahawks and Bobby Wagner have been working toward a new deal. Optimism it may be done before camp.

Goody!!
Holmy was on KJR saying the Hawk offer to RW was fair, that its RW causing the problem. How he would know I don't know. I have accepted the C-bob motif that we are in such an information vacuum and we shouldn't even speculate, Its better for us and them. Peter King was on Dan Patrick saying he is tired of RW being made the bad guy on this, only one team has promised to use the extra money to build a better team around the qb and actually done it, that would be the Pats.
The beat goes on.

If you read the transcript or even listen to holmy he contradicts himself
“I think it’s very fair, very fair,” Holmgren said. “The Seahawks are not low-balling him. In (Wilson and Rodgers’) mind(s), apparently, they think they are. … He’s earned the right to be up there being well paid, there’s no question about that, but usually salaries are based on what other guys get paid, what’s the market, what’s going on. So no, the Seahawks have not low-balled, as far as I understand.”
Notice the its a very fair and then later, as far as I understand. He has no clue what the offer is only what the media has said. Also notice only talk of salary not how the contract is worked out. The reality is they could offer him 25 mil a season but if its less guarranteed money than Newton got then it is a bad deal and that is the problem no one knows, everyone is speculating and some media zombies are running with it. There are guys on .net that have totally turned on Wilson there feeling is whatever the FO offered he should take even if it is below market value. There are guys on the times forum that want them to trade Wilson for any AVG qb, they think we would still win the SB. The media created the feeling that Wilson is less, with there any QB thing and pointing out the great D and RB even thought every other Top QB has advantages. Now they created this BS with all their speculating and the media drones refuse to remember this is the same stuff they said even before talks began way back in Feb. All the media is doing is pushing there speculation based now that they said in Feb because they have nothing else. The unfortunate thing is people are buying it.

It's just Holmgren speak, it's what he always says in negotiations. He was the guy negotiating through all the Walter Jones hold outs and he said exactly the same thing every step of the way. "Our offer on the table is very fair, we want Walter here a long time ..."

Like All of us, MH knows what the media has said. I am still going with the hold up being the guaranteed money but we will see.

I heard one report that he wants to be paid like a Free Agent this year. I have no idea of the accuracy of that report, but it would fit somewhat with the guaranteed money theory.

I think (means nothing) the hang up is on the guaranteed money, not the amount. That I could see, especially with a mobile QB like RW.
Bobby signing will be huge. We need him looks like ET will be out till the Oct.
