Proud to be the team that gave him the call.

Just watched and recorded the story on the NFL channel, awesome story! I hope you can watch it.
He's a Green Baret that did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. I just hope this is not a publicity stunt.

If there's a team that genuinely gives every player they sign a shot at making the team, it is the Seahawks. I think they value Boyer for his drive and his unique character, things that are real factors into making the roster. You could see similar influence in their 6th round selections of guys who possess unique phyical skills and great drive, but who may not necessarilly be the most skilled players ... at least not yet. The coaches will help with what comes next.

Great signing. I wish Boyer the best as he fights to make the team. Great story indeed.

GO SEAHAWKS!!!

Agreed, nice story and I'm glad were giving him a shot at living his dream. He's certainly earned it.

But 5'11" and 220 lbs?

It's not legal to crash the center anymore anyway, if he can snap the ball better he has a shot.

Just by being here he brings a perspective about life and taking advantage of the opportunities you are given that might help some of the younger players if and when they get cut. As well it's about following your dreams.
I don't see anything negative about this signing.

There are some rare occasions where a long snapper is going to be called on to block and/or tackle, too, which is why I raised my eyebrows when I saw his height/weight.

Ditto.
Great story.
Nate Boyer is a winner regardless if he makes the team or not, but he sure is an easy guy to root for.

Plenty of special teams players at a similar size. Tackling won't be the issue, and his smaller size, improved speed might be actually a boon, not a drawback in that regard on punt cover, not sure how they classify him, but plenty of long snappers don't have another position, they are "specialists" no different than a punter or place kicker, it is not HS with a linebacker, or guard, or back up QB doing the honors. Best way according to some of getting to, and staying in the NFL is long snapping.

Hell, the last two Seattle had did not play another position, and weren't much bigger either (Darche and Gresham) Gresham is 6'2" 240 pounds. I think age will be a bigger concern, as well as the fact Seattle just re signed Gresham to a multi year deal.

How many were people expecting to be drafted in a draft that was consistently called a weak offensive line draft?

Yea, we'll see. I guess we don't plan on running a lot of fake punts with a direct snap to the up man crashing into the middle trying to pick up a yard.

If a deep snapper can hit the punter's belly button on each and every snap, then they can be 4'11" and run a 6.0 40 for all I care. I was just raising my eyebrows. It's going to look like Eddie Gaedel going up against Wilt Chamberlain.

The Boyer story is great and I am glad he is on our team.

But, I hate to be cynical but I have to wonder if Pete & John didn't sign this guy for a "feel good" story after they were taking so much heat for drafting Franklin. I mean, Schneider was asked out his previous statements where he said that a player striking a woman would be a deal "breaker". He says that is still true because him and Pete believe Franklin when he says he never hit his girl friend. have any of you seen the pictures of that girl??? have you seen the marks of his fingers on her throat? The bruised face? Franklin hit that girl and now I have lost all respect for John Schneider because he is a LIAR.

I don't know if I would call him a liar because he believes somebody, or rather because he believes, based on his research, that he didn't hit her. He may actually believe that and if he does then he's not a liar. I looked for pictures of her and saw one with a laceration on her cheek. I'm not saying he didn't hit her and from what I've heard there was a lot of evidence that he did but if PC and JS did their research on him (which I am sure they did) who am I to say that they didn't actually come to the conclusion that he didn't hit her.

4Ever brings up a good point, but like mykc, I'm not prepared to go so far as to call JS a liar. But it's hard for me to fathom what kind of information he has access to that would explain or contest the information contained in the police report to such a degree that would allow him to believe Clark's claim that he didn't hit her.

And like 4Ever, I've lost a certain degree of respect for JS. First off, he should have never said "deal breaker", and secondly, having said it, I wish he wouldn't have wrapped his arms around Clark's version and simply said something to the extent that he was mistaken to have made such an inflexible statement, that they believed the incident with Clark was isolated and that it wouldn't be repeated, that he'll be held to a high standard with the Hawks, et al. There's a number of ways he could have talked his way out of that "deal breaker" statement without putting himself in the position of having to buy Clark's story.
