I heard that, too on NFL Radio. Fallout from DQ going there.
He probably saw what others are getting (including Suh's mega contract) and wants an increase.
Who in the Falcons could work here? Maybe Jake Matthews, Desmond Trufant, Julio Jones.
I don't see anyone else on their roster that could start and make an impact other than Matt Ryan for Trade Bait.

Well from the same Publication - Seahawks claim this is news to them - however it could still be true.
What is also interesting is that the Hawks are willing to take a look at Hardy.

He probably wants more mone based on his performance -ala Lynch - He was after all a top 7 defensive lineman last year. Probably would have received $10 million in free agency this year with the way some teams are spending.

Due diligence on every player.
If Bennett is serious, Hardy will look more attractive.

That's one of the problems when you set a precedent of renegotiating contracts. It's the only reason I objected to Beast's contract. Now everyone's going to want a bigger piece of the pie.

I agree with you to a point, RD. Last year's increase was the one that I thought was precedent setting and, IMHO, was the bigger problem. One could argue that this year, the deal with Marshawn was more like a contract extension with the first year of his new deal being the last year of his previous deal. This year, he was going to retire, Beast Mode was..........and he out-performed his contract that was on it's last year.
If this report about Bennett wanting a trade is true - He is a prick. I still maintain that I don't believe it until I hear it from the horse's mouth, but if Bennett does not play for us next year over this BS, I shall be most put out.

North,
What do you think Bennett is worth draft round wise?
BTW Bennett, you're a prick.

I think he's worth at least 2 first rounders.
A guy that can create pressure from both the inside and outside is really uncommon.

What would you be willing to take for Bennett?
(I mean actual value you could expect from Atlanta)

^^^^ NOTHING! He signed a four year deal last year and has only played a quarter of that contract....he needs to honor that deal. If I bought a car and then later learned I could get more car for the same money a year into a 4 year existing deal...........well, that would just be too BAD for me, wouldn't it. It is hard enough to negotiate with FA's every year without the inked-in dudes coming back for more (or to be traded). 1st, I assume it is not true or taken out of context, it's that bananas. 2nd - if it is true, then Bennett is a punk and it will be this very behavior that precludes us from being successful in FA and in the off-season....perhaps next year.

I would think Jake Matthews might be value if he's healthy. He had Lisfranc surgery and expects to be back for the beginning of the year, though.
We could lock up the LT position for the next decade with him.
Other than that maybe Trufant and a mid to high pick - that would solidify the secondary with talented youth and maybe make up for lost pressure up front.
They wouldn't give up Julio Jones.
I'm tempted to think Ra'Shede Hageman might be interesting, but he didn't produce much last year so I wonder if he will end up being as good as his athleticism would indicate.

I would put money that this is a total BS story concocted by Rosenhaus, who represents both Bennett and Hardy, in order to get Hardy's numbers up in the negotiations with Dallas. The source for the story is Clarence Hill of the Dallas Ft.Worth Star Telegram. Just how much insider scoop do you think he is privy to concerning Seattle and Atlanta?
Nothing to see here. Move along.

Total manufactured story by a Dallas writer connecting the wrong two dots. Bennett's not going anywhere, nor is he asking to.

A Seahawks source has said he has not asked for a trade. Not too surprising, but how the heck did this even come out.

I just told you, a Dallas beat writer jumping his own gun. Really. He was on 710 shortly after the fit hit the shan backpeddling at a world record pace.

I've grown to really like Michael Bennett. He's one of our more articulate players, a great interview, and seems very level headed. It took me by surprise when I saw the rumor that he was demanding a renegotiation/trade. I got the impression that he was reasonably content. I'm waiting until I see how this rumor fleshes out before I venture any further comments.
Redoing Beast's contract made sense in a lot of ways and I'm ecstatic that he's coming back for at least one more season. I just didn't care much for the way we've pampered him over the past two seasons, and I do think that it could create some animosity between him and other players if management is seen as being a bit of a jellyfish when it comes to the dealing with their stars.

When I 1st heard this, I was like, WHAT? not Bennett, he's the one who chose Seattle over Chicago last season, (2 seasons ago)?. He's got a great personality, & is funny as hell, not to mention his game. One of my fave Seahawks. I'm glad to see that the whole thing was a bunch of overblown fluff.

Wow what a surprise....Bennett and the wife beater Hardy have the same agent. Dallas was kicking the tires on Hardy and suddenly a Texas beat writer says Bennett may be leaving creating a vacancy in Seattle......
It was about getting the POS Hardy signed. If I were Bennett Id hire a new agent. As for MB why would he sign for less INTENTIONALLY a year ago then get miffed now? Somebody is underpaid every time a new deal gets signed in the NFL. Where does it end

I don't know where he is or what he's doing so it could be that he hasn't heard the rumors, but assuming he did hear them, if the story was as completely bogus as everyone is saying it is, why hasn't Bennett himself come out an issued a denial?

I'm assuming you meant JG and not TG.
Didn't we shut Graham down the 3 times we played them?
I don't remember him being much of a factor in any of those games.
If that is Bennett's reference point, it's probably how he sees it.
I doubt Graham will make anywhere near the stats he had in N.O., but maybe his catches will be more effective (per catch) meaning drive sustaining and Red Zone catches.

If a player joins the Lakers and Kobe doesn't think he's tough enough, he's not going to hide it. I think the same is going on here; Graham is joining a team defined by toughness, it's just true that he doesn't play as tough, and Bennett isn't going to hide it. I got the sense that Bennett's comments about changing how he interacts with him without changing his opinion just mean that he's not going to be a jerk, but that Graham is going to need to adapt to the Hawks' style of competition.

No question Graham's got something to prove to the players here.
Good.
On the other hand, I don't think Bennett has any say in how we're gonna use him.

On most teams Offense and Defensive players don't interact and don't necessarily like each other. Remember the fight the LOB got into last year with the receivers that got some of this year's OTA's taken away? This is not news to anyone on the team.

That's true, but Bennett's comments are not all personal. He's criticizing Graham as a player, says he's going to be asked to block more on a run first team than he was asked to do in NOLA. IMO Bennett is bringing up some legitimate concerns about Graham, some of the same concerns I have, ie that Graham is not a 3 down player.

We don't know how they want to use him.
Graham wanted WR money instead of TE money (naturally) and his claim was he played WR more than TE.
If he is used more as a WR, his blocking won't be as much of a concern as he will be blocking DBs instead of DEs.
From what I've seen of him, he isn't much of blocker along the line, but being such a big body he could just get in the way of a DB and be effective.

Bennett nailed it perfectly.
Jimmy is going to have to adjust his game to Seahawk style of football. That style is aggressive and physical dominance of your opponent. I am sure the players on the team all realize that Jimmy strength is NOT run blocking - they can accept that - what they won't accept is Jimmy shying away from blocking (or contact) because he does not like it - and this is how it should be.
