Will join @JaysonBraddock as saying CB Byron Maxwell to the Eagles seems like a done deal at $50m+ over 5 with $25m in guarantees.

It's good to get "member:Legion of Boom" on your resume!

Not too surprised, although I just read the aHawks are trying to make a lst ditch effort to keep him. Most thought he would get aroun 10 mil/yr, which is too high for Hawks, IMO.

Happy for Max... way too much money though. Really starting to question the "genius" of Chip Kelly at this point.

If there are FA's out there that will fill those shoes, who do you think would be the best fit for the hawks? Anyone think Therald is ready to start?

PS - Nobody here, @ least at the fan level, feels comfy relying on Tharold Simon. Lane stays health & maxi stays outside, there'd never have been a reason to debate the play, IMHO. No excuse- injuries happen, yet I believe it's the truth

Interesting as we have referred to this site before --

From the NFC West Blog - ESPN:
Pro Football Focus, which grades every NFL player on every play, gave Maxwell a minus-0.2 grade for the 2014 season, which tied for 22nd among free-agent cornerbacks.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement... but it shows the 'new' power of the CB in the hierarchy of salary in the NFL and how much respect playing for Pete and Seahawks D gives you. I saw a 'top 100' free agent list and our SB MVP Smith, now our b/u OLB was #44 ahead of a whole lot of better known players.

It also shows how desperate teams are to get CBs that can play at least fairly well.
He helped get the team a ring, so I'm glad he found a payday that should set him up for life.

The last I saw his contract is 6 years 63 mil. Those are crazy numbers for him. I would be wary of signing any CB coming from our system that much money. Clearly there is something about our system, or at least the other players in our system that allows CB's to look pretty good. IMO it has a lot to do with ET, Kam, and Sherm. Combine that with the fact that our coaches do a really good job of coaching/scheming to guys strengths and bam our FA corners are making bank. Don't get me wrong Maxi is a good corner and we were certainly better with him in there but there is no way he is worth top 5, top 10, or even top 20 CB $.

No kidding. I hear talk that the Eagles might pull off a RG3/Redskins style trade with the Jets if Marcus Mariotta falls to the #6 spot. It looks like Chipper is pushing all his chips to the center of the table (sorry for the pun).

Powerball money for Maxwell.

The Eagles were 31st in pass defense last season, so it's a good move in that regard.

But this amounts to putting a brand new windshield on a busted car with no engine, until Philly can add pieces to make this defense legit.

Who do you see them trading up with, Tennessee after the Bucs take Winston?

I have heard that a few times. How does Bradford help the Eagles position in trade? That simply makes no sense to me. Bradford costs more money, is older, is coming off back to back ACL season ending injuries, and has never posted a similar season to Foles one good year ( hell he has had a hard time duplicating Foles BAD year most seasons)... I heard the "trade bait" thing on the NFL Network as well, but for the life of me, I don't see how trading for a MORE expensive, MORE injury prone, LOWER production QB in any way helps that possibility. Can someone explain how that would work?

For as long as Bradford has been in the league, he's only played 49 games.
That's a lot of time recovering and he's had a few different OCs with different systems.
Kelly knows what he wants in a QB, so perhaps he sees those qualities he likes - and like I said in another thread, Kelly thinks his system can fit any QB and doesn't require a lot of mobility.

According to Kelly, he was offered a "first round pick" the same day they acquired Bradford LMFAO. I call Bullspit. Truth is IF he could get a first for an injured Bradford, he would be a fool not to have accepted it, as well as the whole " Mariota is a "special" player, but we would never "mortgage" our future to get a player of that caliber" spin he threw out there. IF he could get a first right now for Bradford, AND he had his own first, AND Mariota was so unique and special, he would have pulled the trigger to give Bradford his third team in less than a week, packaged the picks, plus a few mid rounders, and moved up and taken him. Dude is simply saying whatever comes to mind to defend his moves.

Whole lot of sh*t not washing their in Philly.
