Hawks interested in FA cornerbacks

Apparently we are going to make a run at a couple of William's, Traymon of the Packers and Cary of the Eagles.

Glad to hear it. If we aren't going to make an attempt to resign Maxwell, we're going to have a huge hole to fill. I also wouldn't be surprised if we take a cornerback early in the draft even if we do sign one of these guys.

Cause Maxwell ain't coming back. We'd be silly not to be interested in 'em.

A veteran would be good as Simon needs more time to grow into the role if he ever gets there.
As well, any draft pick can also learn from him.

We need a veteran and I would be happy with either Williams, if the price is right. Max is gone, IMO, and I don't want to go into the off-season with Simon as our only viable #2. Hopefully he gets there by the beginning of the season but lets get him some serious competition first.

Totally agree. Seeing Simon get torched in the SB (just hated the way he played with slow hips and whined to the officials for OPI flags after each completion made on his side) and reading the injury report (Lane is having two MAJOR surgeries) make CB a priority this offseason - with or without Maxi. Without him, which is likely, it is even more highlighted in my mind.

I found Byron's firing of his agent curious. Could it be a good sign? Either way - CB has become a position of need for various reasons.

IMO it is a bad sign as far as re-signing with the Hawks goes. IMO it isn't a coincidence that the news about the Hawks interest in FA corners coincides with the announcement of him firing his agent. Also, he has compared his impending FA period to him being the pretties girl at the prom (I can't remember if he actually said that or I am making it up) and being excited about the opportunity to test the market. I know this could be lip service but IMO he is looking to get paid and probably will. I don't think he is a true #1 corner but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get 8-10 mil/year, and at that price I wish him luck wherever he goes.

Maxwell isn't coming back. Even if he doesn't get the $10 million dollars people are throwing around, he's not worth being the top CB in this FA period. I think Tramon Williams (who they are rumored to be targeting) would be an upgrade over Maxwell even though he'll allegedly be cheaper.

Seahawks

The agent for free agent CB Cary Williams said his client had a “fantastic” meeting with the Seahawks and was “blown away” by them.
