http://www.midwestsportsfans.com/wp-con ... Turkey.pngSo what's wrong with you guys? Have you lost your passion? The other Hawk forums are having a blast with this, and to me, it was the most satisfying scene I've seen as a Hawk fan since we won the SB. Our two star players partying with an info babe on the Niners logo? Man, talk about a poke in the eye to everyone in Whiner Nation! Jerry Rice just recently tweeted his disgust, said we could have shown more respect, as if it was our idea.
http://www.ninersnation.com/2014/11/28/ ... s-seahawksSherman carrying that platter over his head and Russell fist pumping the drumstick conjured up images of some medieval army tearing body parts off their conquered enemies. The symbolism was fantastic. Perhaps someone can superimpose Harbaugh's head onto that turkey platter.
It also reminded me of T.O. spiking the ball on the Dallas star, except this one was officially sanctioned.

OMG!!! Jerry Rice is upset? SERIOUSLY???
Jerry Rice has NOTHING to say, EVER about ANYTHING like that, not EVER!
Jerry Rice disrespected Steve Largent and the Seahawks by wearing the number 80.
That led me to reminding everyone who would listen, repeatedly, about the incident on the Cowboys star with T.O. and how upset they all were about it, rightly so!
The Niners probably ought to feel ticked off, but Jerry Rice ought to shut his CAKE HOLE!!!
After Jerry Rice gets all butt hurt over a perceived slight that didn't even involve him, does anyone still want to say that whole thing was "no big deal" like I've heard so many times now?!? He knew darn good and well how disrespectful he was being, and didn't care, this proves it.

Not that I'm a Jerry Rice fan, but he wasn't to blame for the un-retiring of #80. Here's a quote from Steve Largent:
"
The Seahawks at the time had a President of the team [Bob Whitsitt] who had come from the NBA and didn’t really know a lot about football but knew a lot about professional sports and he called me saying that Jerry [Rice] wanted to wear number 80 but wanted to ask my permission,” Largent said. “And so I mean Jerry Rice is asking to wear my number, I’m not going to say no and so I said, ‘Sure, that’s fine with me.’ What [Whitsitt] did was he called Jerry Rice and said, ‘Hey, Steve Largent wants you to wear his jersey when you get to Seattle.’ So Jerry said, ‘Well that’s fine, I’ll wear number 80, I thought it was retired but if Steve wants me to wear it, I’ll wear it.’
“So [Whitsitt] did a little double whammy on both Jerry and myself to ensure that Jerry Rice gets number 80 and [Whitsitt] can sell a bunch of number 80 jerseys or something but it was kind of a scam on both myself and Jerry Rice.”
But I get your point. Rice and the rest of Whiner Nation would be well advised to let this one die. They got their azzes whipped fair and square, and the decent thing for them to do is to shut up and take it like a man. Talk about a pack of cry babies!

Come on, Beastmode gets fined $100000 for not talking to reporters and you really expect the team to thumb their noses at the the whole freakin' NETWORK?
Yeah Jerry, get real.

Not that it matters, but who on earth does Rice think set up that little ceremony??
After the Lynch fiasco about not engaging with reporters did he think Sherm and RW were supposed to say "No, thanks, Michelle"?

If I knew how to post pictures I would have had this up yesterday. You are right Riv, I am surprised no one posted this yesterday.
I have this thing called "Snag It" at work, and what I did was snag the picture of RW3 and RS25 you mentioned walking off the field with the platter and drumstick, put it into the body of an email, and then put fake subject heading that was serious like so they would open the email, and emailed it to all my 49'ers friends......I got some pretty funny responses back, most of them were pretty upset with Greg Roman.

I wish I were that creative, but I'm a computer Neanderthal. All I know how to do is type and hit return, perhaps move the cursor with the mouse a bit. If someone could come up with such a photo, I could take it to work with me Monday and display it on our bulletin board for the handful of dedicated Niner fans I work with.

Actually I thought that both Russell and Richard were very aware of the symbolic nature of that moment and were quite respectful about not saying or acting in an inflammatory manner. If I recall correctly the woman reporter asked them both about the symbolism of eating this meal on the 49er logo (I think with the intent of instigating something memorable) and Russell responded by saying nothing but respectful comments while RIchard when prodded said something about "better to let sleeping dogs lie or this is what happens". Neither of them were disrespectful at all during this moment.
I think Jerry Rice is over-reacting quite a bit here - Makes me wish that Richard & Russell had finished up eating both of those drumsticks and then stood up and spiked the remnants right on the team's logo.

I agree. Russell is always going to be the complete gentleman and say the PC thing in a moment like that, but you could almost see the wheels turning inside Sherman's head when he was thrown that tease of a question about symbolism. Michelle should have never asked a question like that as it's encouraging a guy like Sherman to trash talk. Ask a question in relation to all the Hawks fans watching or something, not about the symbolism of chowing down on the Niner logo.
Nevertheless, I simply loved the symbolism of that moment!

LOL gee, thanks for that River.
Rice is being a fool, but it's not the first time. A lot of Niner fans have soured on him for any number of comments he has made in the past couple years.
Enjoy it while it lasts man, enjoy it while it lasts. Philly v Seattle looks like a great matchup next week.

The only thing that matters is the win.
The rest - while a bit amusing - is contrived, network garbage.

I thought about it, but ultimately, this is the network attempting to go full WWE and that I was not impressed with. Wilson and Sherman didn't really have much of a choice, and ultimately if Rice wants to be upset, the people he should be upset with is the 49rs brass that approved that before the game, there was always a chance it would be Seattle players doing that, and they had to know it, so while I respect the hell out of Mr. Rice, he needs to figure out who his ire should be directed at.

I agree. They should have had it on the sidelines somewhere instead of at midfield on the 49'er logo. And the teasing questions posed to the players did make it appear as if they were trying to stir up chit.
Nevertheless, as a Seahawk fan, I loved it! After all, it couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of folks. You know, everything they do is beyond reproach.

It was absolutely a fabricated WWE type moment. Happy to be the ones eating the turkey on their logo. I'd hope our brass would have the - Uh, well - brass to say hell no you ain't doing that on our Seahawk logo. Which ,BTW, is a much better logo.

How dare Jerry Rice disrespect his former team. Once a Seahawk always a Seahawk.

Russell Wilson is totally aware of symbolism and very in tune with how to use it respectfully. Which is why he tweeted a "bye felicia" video out from the team bus. I had no idea what that meant until I googled it and went to the good ole fashioned urban dictionary.
Dude trash talk is fine by me. Just quit being stupid and own up to it, for once. You can't claim the guy is a badass trash talker that you revel in on one hand and then offer 101 explanations for everything he says or does on the other. To be honest, neither Sherman, Carroll nor anyone on your team bothers me anymore. They are going to be who they are when they win, and lose. We know what to expect. Would be nice if you all could acknowledge the whole rubbing it in our faces every time you win though. It's cool with me. I can deal with it.
Just admit it.

https://mobile.twitter.com/DangeRussWil ... 0405971968Not directed at the Niners. Honestly, IMO this was directed at the idiotic fans and media claiming Seattle was done, or a one hit wonder, or the fools blogging garbage like "not black enough" and other nonsense.
Wilson isn't prone to trash talk, and to the best of my knowledge has never said or done a thing to make me believe he is lying, or prone to rubbing a teams nose in it. Maybe he was upset about classy Niners fans throwing beer bottles at them as they entered the stadium, or other classy moves by the fans, who knows? But assuming he is talking trash, is a pretty large leap.

Have to say, Niners fans are losing their sh*t right now about this logo thing. Rice was the tip of the iceberg I guess. Guess they don't grasp how that all works, and it is Seattle, Sherman and Wilsons fault that the Station requested and the Niner FO APPROVED the set up. Not sure if they were just super arrogant that it would be one of their players eating there, or simply stupid. Either way, that ire should be placed where it BELONGS on the Niner FO and media relations, and you would hope that Niners fans would grasp that, but I mean, it IS Niner fans after all. Same guys applauding TO celebrating on the star, or signing an autograph in a MNF game in Seattle, apparently can't handle a PLANNED segment perpetuated by the network and their own FO. SMDH. It's getting out of control at this point.

I've browsed some of the Niners forums and have seen the same thing. Some are saying that Sherman and Wilson should have refused to have the 'ceremony' at midfield which IMO is like giving a kid a big piece of chocolate cake then complaining about the kid because he ate it. They're really trying to displace their anger and frustration by blaming anyone and everyone but themselves. Jerry Rice started all this crapola. The first thing he said about it was that he didn't know who was responsible yet he went on to call out the Hawks. The whole controversy is pretty bizzare IMO.
I agree that it was in poor taste and that the PC thing to do would have been to at least have it on the sidelines or in the locker room. But it was either the network or the Niners themselves that insisted it be on the logo, not the visiting team for crying out loud.

I was blown away that the network would set something like this up. It made my week! I took a photo of me in front of the tv screen in pause & posted it on FB. The responses were great! This was the highlight of my Thanksgiving weekend. What better way to let the nation know that WE'RE BACK?
