Remaining Schedule

Postby RiverDog » Fri Oct 08, 2021 5:34 am

It's extremely soft outside of our division. Here's a partial list of our remaining opponents:

Steelers. They're imploding worse than we are. They are 1-3 and there are calls to bench Big Ben.

Saints. At 2-2, they've been Jeykl and Hyde. Hard to tell which way that team heads.

Jags, 0-4, a runaway train heading for a washed out bridge. They've lost 17 games in a row.

WFT, 2-2 with their wins coming against the 1-3 Giants and the 1-3 Falcons.

Texans, 1-3 and have lost 3 in a row. Their lone win was against the 0-4 Jags.

Bears, 2-2 with one of those wins coming against Jared Goff and the Lions.

Lions, 0-4. Actually I don't even have to qualify them by noting their record. Just say Lions and you get the picture.

Plus we get the Niners again at home, and who knows what they'll look like by the time we get to them in December.

I don't think there's anyone here that's delusional enough to believe that this team is a Super Bowl contender, but it's very realistic that we could play well enough to make the playoffs and disappoint a lot of Jets fans that are hoping for a top 10 pick out of the Adams trade.

So schedule looks doable with 2nd Rams game...both Cards games...and a possible split of Greenbay(away) / Niners(home) making us a projected (10-7)? ...winning out (14-3)...we need to see some solid consistent movement in the win column...with Russell's status unable to discern right now.

I think that we'll be lucky to go 4-3 in the games I listed above, losing to the Saints, Bears, and WTF. I don't think there is a snowball's chance in hell that we split with the Cards or win our 2nd contest with the Rams, but I'm willing to go 1-2 on those 3 games, figuring on an upset in one of them. Toss a coin on the Niners game at home, depending on their QB situation. Forget about the Packers in Lambeau. That's 8-9 or 7-10. Oddly enough, we could sneak into the playoffs with an 8-9 record.

But I do think that our defense, much like they did last season and mainly because of the weak QB's we are likely to face, will rebound enough so that we don't get the booby prize of the worst defense in league history.

We often play down to our opposition so I would think any game is 50/50 without Russ, even Jacksonville.
Who knows, maybe Geno will be a pleasant surprise and we end up with a QB controversy. No likely, i
know but he will play within the scheme more than Russ. It could help Waldron develop as well by having him
coach and manage the QB more.

I agree NH. What do we do well outside of RW? NOTHING. We cannot stop the run, or Run the ball. We cannot Rush the passer and our WR's are B+ at best. Our coach is old and outdated and a mess. I think we are seeing RW in his last year as a Hawk. Pete's Draft picks have been a bust, and his trades are bad, especially the J Adams trade. We are a shell of our former self. Hope I am wrong, but I think Geno can play his best and we lose, he is an average Backup at best.

Yeah, that's why I have us going 4-3 against the softies. One or two of those teams I listed are bound to get it together by the time we face them. That or we will just plain won't match up well against a team, like we did against the Giants last season.

Dropped a very winnable game last night . So much for that . I see Winston putting 40 on us and if Geno isn’t a lot sharper than last night we don’t have a chance . I don’t rule out Jax getting us either . I see Lawrence bursting with talent and Schottie is calling the plays now including a great job down the stretch Sunday . I’m predicting we go to the bye at 2-6. They are all gonna be hard this year .

Come On!

We just pull it together and rattle off 10 wins in a row and we are 12-5

No problem

We're currently 2-4, so rattling off 10 straight wins would put us at 12-4. Save your comments for next Tuesday morning.
