OT: NCAA Basketball Tourneys To Be Held w/o Fans

I apologize for the non Seahawks football topic, but I'm sure everyone will agree that this is a big enough story to include all sporting interests:

The NCAA made the unprecedented decision Wednesday to hold its men's and women's basketball tournaments without fans because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

The WA governor has prohibited all large scale public gatherings in the Puget Sound area, including sporting events like Seattle Dragons football. The Seattle Mariners may also be impacted.

The NBA is considering doing the same. On the way home from work listening to Rich Eisen they were speculating that the NCAA was ready to but were waiting on the NBA to make a determination and take their queue from them. I guess they got tired of Adam Silver dragging his feet.

Doing that would make the broadcast rights more valuable.
I wonder if there might be a clause in the new TV agreement to get more
money if the same thing happens during the NFL season. I don’t know
if the agreements have been finalized yet.

The companies that own those rights are losing millions due to the drop in the value of their stock. Additionally, in a recession, companies often times cut back on their advertising budgets.

I see.

I just heard that the NBA season has been put on hold because a player
has tested positive. I don’t know if it’s the end of the year or not.

Yep. The statement says "until further notice."
