Final Preseason Game

Postby RiverDog » Fri Aug 30, 2019 6:03 am

Glad that's over. No major injuries to our starters.

The backup QB battle is over. Say hello to Clipboard Geno.

CJ Prosise might just make the final 53. They have to be pleased with his preseason efforts and it's hard to imagine why they'd keep him around so long then just as he appears healthy and performing, they cut him.

BBK looked great. There's going to be some tough decisions to be made in that group. Outside of WR, the linebacker corps seems to be the most competitive.

And speaking of WR, not a lot of separation achieved by anyone in that group IMO. No one caught more than a single pass.

Our kicking game looks solid. Dickson hit some real boomers and Myers looks very comfortable and in sync.

Besides the cut down to 53, there's going to be the intrigue regarding any possible trades or pickups. The preseason exposed what we all suspected going in, that we have a weakness at edge rusher.

I think most players did well for themselves in that there were few glaring mistakes so if they don't make it here,
they might get a chance on another team.

WR, I'm really disappointed that Jennings didn't get targeted much in pre-season as a whole. Jazz makes some
splash plays, but doesn't get much mention in practice interviews. He might go to the PS if he clears waivers.
We have to keep Ursua. He has a quality the other receivers don't have and is most like Baldwin of the players
on the roster.

LB will be tough to decide. Shaquem re-injured his knee so he might go on IR to start the season. That was the BBK
we expected to see from the beginning of camp.

Prosise is like a mermaid (always tempting sailors toward the rocks where the ship crashes and sinks). He has
so much promise, but his injury history is hard to overlook.

RBs showed well. Homer is a strong runner and a bit like Carson. I've read he's pretty good in pass protection so
that might give him the edge if a decision is to be made.

Generally speaking team speed has improved the last 2 years. Everyone seems to have an extra gear.

DL. Meder played pretty well, and there was some solid work by Green and Jackson. Mingo was lost at DE, but
Mone was a rock in the middle and Mitchell seemed to always be in the middle of the action. Marsh stepped it up.
Like you, I expect some additions from the waiver wire or trade before the season starts.

Mr. Glass will make the roster again until he ends up on IR. That guy has loads of talent, but not much durability.
