OT?-Norv Turner

Postby Seahawks4Ever » Wed Nov 02, 2016 10:00 am

Norv Turner has fallen on his sword in Minnesota! Norv has been a head coach for many NFL teams but like Wade Phillips is best suited to being an Offensive Coordinator.

Pete gets along with Tom Cable a former HC himself, could Pete and Norv coexist??

I froth at the mouth fantasizing how great Russell Wilson could be under the direction of a Norv Turner as opposed to Darrell Bevell!

COME ON PETE! Hire Norv and you can forget all about the offense and you can concentrate on the whole picture.

Just think, Gus Bradley is about to get the boot in Jacksonville and maybe we can get him back in to the fold.

That was my thought, too but resigning in the middle of the season sends up a red flag to me.
Is his health an issue or has he lost his fire? Is it a good thing to turn your back on your team in the middle of the season and could he do it again?
It might also have been friction with Pat Shurmur who was said to be pretty forceful in trying to get Bradford.

From a philosophy PoV, I would love to have him here, but he's used to having a QB that isn't mobile and might not be a good fit with Russell Wilson.

Speculation in SiriusXM is that there was a philosophical difference between Zimmer and Turner, that Zimmer was wanting to get more conservative and Turner wanting to throw the ball more frequently.

The Vikings have looked really, really bad in their last two outings, especially last Monday night vs. the hapless Bears. They don't look anywhere near as good as they did in their first 5 games. This smells like panic and in fighting amongst the organization.

To be fair, the Vikings offense has looked really, really bad in 6 of 7 games ( honestly it's 7 of 7 but mediocre in Minnesota is good enough). Hard to blame Norv with all the injuries they have dealt with on that side of the ball, but that offense is a huge reason ( really the only reason) I was never sold on them as a SB threat. When you are relying on ST and defense to score over half your points ( AND don't have the talent to do so on top of that as opposed to struggling offense) the chances that you continue to win regularly go in the toilet.

There's struggling or inconsistent offense ( something teams can find their way out of) and undermanned ,overmatched, lacking talent offense. Minnesota is the latter.

They look a lot like us: Great defense, no running game, and a quarterback that is immobile.

So in your mind, Wilson and Bradford are equivilant, Asiata and Micheal are on par, Minnesota's patchwork line filled with guys any team in the NFL could have had at any point is equivilant to the 3rd best team protecting the QB this season, and a rookie and a bunch of busts are equivilant to Baldwin, Graham and co.? OK. If you want to think that, be my guest, I'm not going there though.

The truth is, Minnesota just doesn't have the talent on offense to succeed ( and that was apparent week one). Seattle does, I learned my lesson last year in regards to this offense ( scoring 13 points a game for 9 weeks). Talent on that side of the ball ISN'T the issue in Seattle, it is in Minnesota.
