Seahawks will be happy to offer Mathis a well below Market deal in exchange for "opportunity to play in a SuperBowl" - Mathis will reject this.

I don't see cutting Mebane to make this work - he is our MVP on the Defensive interior - even more valuable with McDaniel release.

The MVP of our interior defense is Bobby Wagner. Mebane was out for much of the season and still we survived. When Wagner was out, our W/L record suffered.

I'm good with a Mebane for Mathis trade off if that's what it takes to land Mathis. Although I'd love to see him back, the fact is that we can replace Mebane so long as the others stay healthy. We're really hurting for quality experience along the OL. I'm worried that we're getting out of balance, tons of great players on defense, a diminishing quality of offensive players.

Can't argue with anything anyone has said, but man, I really hate even discussing letting Mebane go.

I have read a couple of comments that Rubin has been looking pretty good in the middle.
Unfortunately we got rid of McDaniel in a Salary Cap move so we are thinner than we might be so it's less of an option to release Mebane.

It's interesting that both McDaniel and Clinton McDonald have left us for TB in successive years.
Both of those guys I liked on the DL.
