Spoon has one interception in three years. He doesn't seem to have good instincts for the ball or good hands. He's a very aggressive corner that plays physically. That fits more the strong safety, though I guess he is too small for a strong safety. He's got a little bit of pass rushing ability. He seems ok with passes defensed. He's a good tackler usually. He plays like a strong safety at the corner position. I wonder if they could bulk him up some and move him to strong safety.
I guess we'll see in time. Corner in the NFL different than corner in college. If you can't intercept the ball, hard to be a top corner.

He is a "man-press cover corner," and the reason he only has one INT is that his coverage skills are good, so most offenses don't throw his way. Where he is suffering is wrapping up on tackles. Look at the last time he played, the late TD, tell you what I make it easy for you, here is the link to that play.

If that was Kam Chancellor or Earl Thomas, or even Richard Sherman in their third year, they are making that tackle in the open field.
We are so talent-deficient at cornerback that moving Spoon out of it would be a bad idea.

River Dog wrote:Yeah, I watched all but the last 5 minutes or so. The Giants are a different team with Dart at quarterback. He didn't put-up eye-popping numbers, didn't even break 200 yards passing. But he managed the game well, made good decisions. Who in the hell is Cam Skattebo? 98 yards rushing and 3 TD's.
trents wrote:River, Cam Skattebo is a new name to you? Didn't you see any AZ State games last year? Especially the Peach Bowl against Texas? His performance in the Peach Bowl was practically superhuman. I have never seen seen any back able to shed so many tackles! His balance is amazing! Not fast but super strong with amazing instincts. He's a combination of Marshawn Lynch and Houdini. Ashton Jeanty got all the press but Skattebo was much more fun to watch and was the runner up to Jeanty in total yards gained.
