The Cards new GM, former Titans director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort, sent a subtle, unsolicited shot across the bow to whom we have to assume is Kylar Murray, who had some very visible issues with his former head coach and was recently ripped by an unnamed former teammate:

"Ego will not be tolerated in this organization."

Also, former Colts head coach Frank Reich is scheduled to interview for the Cards job.

No way I would have given Murray a huge guaranteed contract, sorry he is just not built for long term NFL use and abuse.

After going undefeated after their first 7 games in 2021, the Cards have gone 8-20, which includes an embarrassing one and done playoff loss to the Rams, which is why Kingsbury lost his job. Not unlike the situation in Denver, whoever ends up getting the Cards job is going to be stuck with Murray.

And now they have hired another black man. Maybe we should stop calling every firing of a black coach racists? It takes away from real racism that actually does exist.

I agree completely. It's called the little boy crying wolf. Pretty soon, people get de-sensitized to it. Let's at least wait until there's something besides purely circumstantial evidence as was the case in HT's accusations.

The reason people thought that they were racists or at least had those tendencies was the black coaches only
got 1 year to turn the team around. Nobody could do that but even though they played a lot of teams really
tough, they still lost. Now, they’ve given Ryans a 6 year contract so that will hopefully be put by the wayside
and they can set a course for success over a longer period of time.

IMHO that is a small reason, people thought they were racist because that not many Black coaches have been given an opportunity. There is 0 reason that Eric Bienemy should not have had a coaching job along time ago, and he is not the only one. No Coach in the NFL gets more than a year IF it goes totally south, you know that. Its still a white good ole boy club. My question to you and all the site members, is why would a black coach turn down the Bronco job and take the Texan job, I do not get that one.

How do you know that there is 'zero' reason why he shouldn't have gotten a HC job by now? Suppose he doesn't interview well, or that he has something in his background that teams are uncomfortable with? Or maybe his salary demands were too high, or that he wanted more control than the owners/GM were willing to give?

The point is that there are A LOT of legitimate reasons why any candidate didn't get this or that job. We can't assume that their failure is because of their race. You're trying to put 2 and 2 together.

My context was specifically for Houston. They fired Culley after he had started to make headway with a dysfunctional team, then hired Smith and fired him after they again showed some promise and were competitive against
some very good teams, both after 1 year. This 6 year contract shows a real commitment to the new coach - and should give him the time to actually implement his program. And that's been some of the problem in the NFL,
namely that coaches of color don't just not get the opportunity, but for the most part have had a shorter leash before removal. Certainly there are the Hackett and Meyer types but it's not usually true for white coaches.
