Watched a little of USFL - can’t be 100 people in stands. I wonder how Jeff Fisher’s 1-8 NO team is drawing? Should be a career builder.....

I didn't even realize that they were playing. Heck, I'm still trying to force myself to watch the Mariners.

It's painful. The bullpen is as bad this year as it was good last year. Too few major league caliber hitters in the lineup, too many runners stranded on base.

Yeah, they started off pretty well, but as usual, were in last place by Memorial Day. Agreed about not having ML caliber hitters. I couldn't believe it when I saw their starting RF hitting below .200. That kind of hitting never used to be good enough to stay in the majors let alone the starting lineup.

The Mariners. So disappointing. They are talent-wise better than last year, but don't seem to be able to get it all lining up to win. They really miss Haniger. Though Julio is coming on strong and Kirby is showing some real promise. The starting pitching rotation looks like it could be real solid for some time. But the team is just out of sync. They have a good pitching day, the hitters bats go dead. They have a good hitting day, the starting pitching sucks. The starting pitching is good and the hitting solid, the bullpen decides to suck. They can't seem to get all the parts firing on all cylinders enough. The offense is probably the worst. I've never seen so many low batting averages on a baseball roster. They need to fire that hitting coach and get better coaching for the hitters. This can't continue.

The USFL is just plain high school with colorful costumes and decent TV. What really is hard to understand is they have assigned the same cities and names to the teams even though they play every game in the same Birmingham Alabama 'empty' stadium. On top to that, the original rights owners to the USFL have sued the league for trademark infringement. I have no idea why the 'new' league would decide that the old city and team names would be a good idea. I doubt anyone cares what the names are, but given the low crowd and TV ratings, I'd say the fans care about the quality (or lack of it) of the game.

Deep Pockets with no management skills. Oh, and the XFL is restarting later this year, too....

The Mariner's have been hit with multiple injuries to their bullpen, so it's not all their fault, but the hitting side, once again, is pathetic at times. As was the 1 hit they got in a game they really needed to win yesterday to keep close to the last of the wildcard spots.
