Another thing to consider here is, does Pryor really want to be here?

Obviously, he's gonna say it's great to be a Seahawk, that there's a lot he can learn from RW, Pete, blah, blah, blah.

But when you really think about it, this is the worst place a guy like TP could end up, simply because he'll never play (barring injury to RW, TJ, whatever). And at the end of the day, that's how a QB ultimately learns the position - by playing.

He is not going to increase his odds of being a starter in the NFL by sitting on the bench or holding a clipboard next to Pete. Kid needs to be on the field. That said, if he's already resigned to the thought - or possible likelyhood - that he'll never be a legit #1 for any franchise, then maybe he'll be happy here.

But the hunch here says this trade has to be killing him overall. Yeah, he's on a winner. Cush job, collecting a check - if he actually makes the team. And merely trading a 7th rounder to get him hardly makes that a lock. I feel bad for the guy, really. This isn't where he needs to be.

If he agrees to a position change, which I really doubt, then maybe we use him more in a different capacity. Just seems like he's set on being a QB only, much like the aforementioned Tebow in this thread. If that's the case, then he better hope he gets moved soon. TJ belongs here. He's seen and played enough to know he's a #2 - and a good one at that.

Pryor is too young to give up on his starting dreams. And that's why I believe we could easily see him wearing a different uniform on opening day.

Pryor will be a better camp body than whomever we'd get in the 7th. I don't see another QB out there who has a shot of mimicking Kaepernick on the scout team, and that's what I see Pryor as.

That's how I see it: quality camp body who has a small (say, 5%) chance of beating TJ for the backup QB position. He gets the playbook earlier than a draft pick so we can hit the ground running in camp.

Edit: Also, what Zorn says.

They may have brought him in on a 1 year guaranteed contract with a promise to him that they would polish him next season to be a formidable QB for another team. Another thought is.... that PC talked him into exploring other positions. Just a thought here but imagine TP , a 6' 6" WR with 4.3 speed stretching the field along with Harvin, Baldwin and Rice not to mention Miller peeling off of blocks to get in the empty middle of the field while the backs are trying to chase down the Hawks speedsters.

I'm done trying to figure out this coaching regime. I tip my cap to them, trust and respect them until I'm given reason not to, after all they built the first ever Seahawks Super Bowl Champions team!

My earlier points mentioned this as well. No way is he being considered to be a replacement for RW.
I don't even think the kid will make backup status. He was brought in to motivate TJack maybe, and when he fails to make #2, then he will be given the option to play another position. If he is smart he will accept that offer, cause the guy does have raw talent.

There are people out there who really think Pryor or another QB we have can do it.

It would be out of character for RW to turn down a reasonable offer from the team that gave him his chance and prostitute himself to the highest bidder ala Alex Rodriguez. It's not going to happen.

I agree, but you are presuming he is made an offer, remember under these peoples assumptions, any mobile QB can do it, and Pryor would be cheaper than RW.

Why do the assumptions of random people on a message board mean anything to you? This is the internet, where idiots run wild. There are also people in Washington who think they should trade RGIII and start Kirk Cousins. The fact that you can find other people who share an absurd idea doesn't make it any less absurd.

And just to put an exclamation point on what Kal said, there were people in Denver that were outraged when the Broncos signed Peyton Manning and traded away Tim Tebow.

There's a person in Fargo N.D. who thinks that too.

I don't think it's even slightly absurd.

Yeah I was one of them RD. #1 I thought Tebow got screwed being dumped off a successful season and a playoff win. #2 I felt Manning for all his flapping wings and chants of OMAHA is Mr October and prone to epic failure on the biggest stage. The Donkeys trajectory under Tebow will always be an unknown but Manning once again put up "star wars numbers" before flaming out dramatically both seasons. I was glad to see our team do the honors, he was who I thought he was. It isn't ever going to change for him at this stage of the game

. As for Prior or TJack vs Wilson, God I hope we never have the discussion or it will mean bad things for the Hawks most likely.

Denver's offense went from being ranked 23rd under Tebow in 2011 to #4 in 2012 and #1 and one of the most prolific ever in 2013 under Manning, so we can make some educated guesses.

In any event, I won't hold you to the Tebow thing. You stood by your beliefs in spite of overwhelming and at times very caustic opposition. I respect you for that.

I guess you have to hold out hope? But given the fact that Tebow has not been able to find a job in the NFL whatsoever, I think it's safe to assume the trajectory was in the southerly direction. I mean Belichek was a big Tebow fan and couldn't find a use for him, that should tell you all you need to know.

Yeah I guess except it is not just the times boards. This from the seahawks.net board "7th round project? Or Russell Wilson's eventual successor? Think about it..." It amazes me the lack of appreciation for RW

Well RD as Seahawks fans we should not get too hung up on stats should we? Manning has always put up mind boggling numbers but as far as hardware there's very little to show for it. Wilson doesn't scratch the surface in terms of league leaders for yardage etc but he just wins. Granted his mechanics are far superior to Tebow. But Tebow, when given the chance was a winner too. Few interceptions, won at the end of games, respected by his teammates.Reading Manny Ramirez's lips after Manning FD up the snap I would suspect all is not good in Bronco land. Between Elway and Rex Ryan, coupled with the baggage associated with his fanatical cult following it basically ended Tebows NFL career. But Id take him over that choking dog and his wet noodle arm(glad he was) Manning every day at this point in time......

Never been a huge fan of QB's that "win at the end of games" that are the REASON they have to win at the end of games. Tebow could and did put together the 10 to 15 minutes a game to "win" it, but IMHO that doesn't make him in any way shape or form agood QB, OR EVEN a decent QB. The guy scored 22 TD's as a starter, and turned it over 24 times. He found a way true, but it was that defense, and that running game that deserved the lions share of the credit, not Tebow. ( at least IMO0.

To be honest other than yards Rw has been top 10- in everything else that matters, Qb rating, YPA, tds TD/INt ratio, rushing yards by a QB, winning, Complt %, etc just not yards, and attempts.

You can toss in the name of Bill Belichek along with Elway and Ryan as teams that gave Tebow a chance and failed to impress.

As far as Manning goes, you're right, his arm strength isn't what it used to be and it showed in the SB. But as Bill Walsh once said, arm strength ranks well down the list of desirable attributes for an NFL quarterback, and even though Manning's arm is weak, perhaps one of the weakest in the league, he still gets the ball to its target a lot quicker than Tebow with his screwy mechanics. His experience and knowledge of the game has extended his career much further than his physical skills would normally have taken him. I don't know what you're talking about with the "all is not good in Bronco land" observation. Is there anything besides your lip reading that you can use to qualify that remark?

You're among a very small minority of informed football people if you'd take Tebow over Manning. As Kal said, if Tebow was as good as you're saying he is, ie better than Manning, someone would have at least taken a filer on him by now. It's not just The Circus that's keeping teams from picking up the phone, it's the 47.9% career completion percentage and a whole bunch of strictly football issues that's ended his career. There's plenty of film out on Tebow playing in different situations and for different teams, and if one of the other 29 teams had even the slightest hope that they could have made some use of him, they would have called him by now, baggage or no baggage.
